All gastric balloons work in the same way. Firstly, it is inserted in the stomach which decreases the space for food in stomach. Approximate volume of stomach is 1.5 liters and an approximate balloon (650 mL) decreases the volume of the stomach by 50%.
The main purpose of the balloon, actually, is to slow down the flow of foods and drinks to the stomach. This helps fasten your satiety and significantly reduces the amount of food you need to eat.
